  • Calling all sewing enthusiasts

The team at Love Productions (they did the Great British Bake Off for BBC2 among many other TV series) are looking for talented people with a passion for sewing.

They sent me an e-mail asking if I would blog about it to generate interest, here's an extract from that e-mail.

"Love Productions, the makers of BBC2’s The Great British Bake Off, are currently looking for non-professional sewing enthusiasts to take part in our brand new TV series!

The programme will be a celebration of sewing and will see men and women who love sewing turn their hand to a variety of challenges, from clothing making to interior projects. The sewing tasks will be interspersed with short films exploring the history of sewing in Britain.

It would be fantastic to get lots of people to come forward and apply for the show but at this stage I’m especially keen to get some men involved. I thought perhaps you might consider blogging about the series in order to generate some interest? "

  • A new crochet cushion & a little challenge

I've been working on this cushion cover since the end of March and finally finished it yesterday afternoon, the last job and most boring was weaving in the ends. I guess I could've left them as they would be on the inside and no one would see them but I have this thing that the reverse side of anything I make needs to be as neat as the front! So queue in a Miss Marple episode recorded a few days ago and it was soon done.

Here it is, what do you think?

    Here's the front.

    And this is the back.

Now, I mentioned a little challenge and it's this.

    Do you see these...

    ...and this?

They're motifs from the book by Edie Eckman "Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs". Can you guess which ones?

Just leave your guesses on a comment under this post and in a few days time I'll reveal all :-)

  • Custom made calendar

Remember when back in January I showed you the calendar I'm making for 2012? Here are the pages I made for April and May, I need to start thinking about the pages for the Summer months now.

The idea is to at the end of each year recycle this calendar for the new year although I haven't thought how I'm going to do that yet.

I still need to apply a few coats of decoupage enamel to these pages to seal them and make them more durable.

  • Beyond the Square Challenge: Motifs 2 & 5

I managed to make 2 new crochet motifs from Edie Eckman's book for the Beyond the Square Challenge hosted by Barbara from Made in K-Town. To see what others have made so far for this challenge and/or to join in just have a look in Barbara's lovely blog.

Here are my new motifs, 2 lovely circles.

  • Paper buses

If you have small children you may like what this blog has to offer, it's run by a clever 12-year old and he's actually made many of the paper buses you see there.

Just print a few and let the kids have fun cutting, folding and glueing them together.

Here's one for you but don't forget to check the blog above for more.
