  • Eva's shawl & scrap scarf

    Eva's shawl

The Eva's shawl I've been making for my mum is finally finished. Weyhay!

The border is from Edie Eckman's book and after much thought I chose border number 57. I think it looks beautiful on this shawl and it's so easy to make.

The yarn I used is Sirdar Click DK (70% acrylic 30% wool) of which I have some leftover not only from this shawl but also from previous projects where I used it in different colours.

I'm now using these bits of leftover yarn to make scarfs. The one you see below was made last weekend. The crochet border is from the book mentioned above, number 27. Isn't it pretty? The rest of the scarf was knitted in a stripy pattern. I can't wait to wear it when Winter comes.

I have another scrap scarf on the go, I'll post some pictures of it very soon.

  • Finished blanket

My shell blanket is officially finished, even the many yarn ends have been weaved in and it's all done and ready to be used, yay .

The scalloped edging is from the book Around the Corner Crochet Borders by Edie Eckman and it's number 15. I blogged about this book here. This blanket was started back in March this year and I worked on it on and off in the evenings alternating it with other crafts.

I have quite a lot of yarn left and am still deciding what to make with it but for now I just want to stare at my recently finished blanket and admire it.

    Here it is.

  • Hello Kitty scarf with pockets

A scarf with pockets seems to be a good idea for young children who find gloves a little fiddly.

This Hello Kitty scarf (remember the appliqués I showed you in a previous post?) is for my niece who's 4 and it's one of the Christmas gifts I'll be sending her later in the year. I really like the colours and I'm happy with how it turned out although my Hello Kitty appliqués could have been a little better especially on the embroidery front, the eyes and the mouth look slightly weird to me!

The tassels also need a little trimming but overall I'm very pleased and hope she likes it.

To make this scarf I knitted it longer than necessary, folded the ends up and sewed both sides to make the pockets.

The wool used is Sirdar Snuggly Crofter, Baby Fair Isle effect DK, shade 0156. Length (after folding the pockets) 1,27 cm approx.

  • Customized T-shirts

Inspired by the lovely images of revamped T-shirts on Pinterest I decided to try and customize a couple of plain T-shirts. This was done the evening before we went on holiday so I wanted something that could be done quickly.

    Customized T-shirts

On the dark blue T-shirt I used a crochet flower I made from the chart below.

For the lighter T-shirt I cut out one of the larger hearts from a piece of fabric I've had for ages and stitched it on to the T-shirt with a blanket stitch.

As an afterthought I added a very simple crochet edging in thin white crochet cotton.

I have one other project in mind for a favourite shirt of mine. I'll show it when it's done.

Have you customized any of your clothes? What and how?

  • Time capsule for August

It's time for another Time Capsule and here it is.

    Post-It holders

The cute Post-It holders above were made last year as Thank Gifts for teachers and other staff at Alex's school. You can see the tutorial here.

It was also a busy month on the cardmaking front with commissions from different people and for different occasions. This time last year I was also working on my Popcorn Flower blanket.
